For the project above known as the "Character Remix" project, I decided to do a mix of a well known picture from the movie Tangled and mixed in Belle from the movie Beauty and the Beast. This is how this piece of artwork would be considered "stole" because although both images were not original, taking one idea from each and putting them together made it original. As seen in the image above and below, the difference was that instead of using Rapunzel and the chameleon I included Belle and her chipped teacup. In the project above, the topic for it was "2 to 1 Artwork" and we were given the task of mashing two different items into one and making something else out of it. The picture on the farthest left was the inspiration to my project. In doing this project I grasped a greater understanding of what original art is because before this I thought that original art had to be 100% thought up by an individual. After doing this project I now understand that you can take others ideas while putting your own twist to it can be considered original art.

When I was presented with this topic I knew I wanted to do down thing a bit challenging. I decided to do a still life of a photograph that I had taken the weekend prior to the project. After studying this picture a bit more carefully I realized that I would need I apply my prior knowledge of shading and the new techniques for proportion we had just learned. This was my rough draft for the project. In doing this rough draft I saw that making the hair look like it was in a braid was going to be harder than I thought. I also noticed the picture was misisn something, a pop of color. This is my final, and I think it turned out well. I noticed that the proportions were well done and the shading really made it come to life. The extra pop of color from the tie dye shirts really made it all come together. Overall, the proportions, shading, and use of colored pencils for color were what made this drawing what it is. |
