2. I noticed that I expanded the way I made projects from only really doing realistic looking art to drawing in pen and making cartoon looking pictures or making things on the fantasy side. At the beginning of the year I drew a bird and as the year progressed, I drew another bird but it was different because its body and wings were covered in music notes conveying a "songbird". |
1. There have been many things that have changed in my point of view throughout this semester. Seeing the different interpretations that other people had for topics I maybe didn't know about was really interesting to see. I learned a lot of problem solving in the first unit. Before that unit I had never done much shading or used colored pencils in a project but when doing the project I decided to try it out. For that project I drew a picture that I had taken over the summer of me and my best friend wearing matching shirts and having done our hair in the same way. 3. My favorite unit was the unit when I did the "Stop Human Trafficking" drawing. Human Trafficking is another problem I am passionate about revealing to others. Many think slavery ended long ago but the truth is there are more slaves now then there were during the Abraham Lincoln times. In this drawing, I included a stop light, a city, and a girl in a torn dress looking out onto the city, her shadow spread across the street with the shadow of a man grabbing her. 4. What I liked about this class was the variation of projects and topics that were introduced. I think we were all pushed in directions we hadn't been before and I know I personally improved my art work through this semester in Art 2. I like the way everything was taught, I don't think I would have changed anything about the style of teaching.

When I was presented with this assignment I knew right away what I wanted to do. Abortion is a problem the world faces today and many go about there lives never truly understanding the severity of the problem. For this assignment I made a clay model of a 12 week old fetus and a painting of fetus in a womb. The clay model is supposed to show people how human-like the fetus is, even at 12 weeks old. When getting an abortion, thats somewhat of what it would come out looking. For the painting, I wrote a bunch of facts and statistics about abortion and then on top of that outlined it in red and painted a uterus with a sign that says "help me". I think these both convey my topic well because it gets the point across that these abortions people get are actually humans, little babies and if more people saw it that way maybe we could have a solution for it.
For the project above known as the "Character Remix" project, I decided to do a mix of a well known picture from the movie Tangled and mixed in Belle from the movie Beauty and the Beast. This is how this piece of artwork would be considered "stole" because although both images were not original, taking one idea from each and putting them together made it original. As seen in the image above and below, the difference was that instead of using Rapunzel and the chameleon I included Belle and her chipped teacup. In the project above, the topic for it was "2 to 1 Artwork" and we were given the task of mashing two different items into one and making something else out of it. The picture on the farthest left was the inspiration to my project. In doing this project I grasped a greater understanding of what original art is because before this I thought that original art had to be 100% thought up by an individual. After doing this project I now understand that you can take others ideas while putting your own twist to it can be considered original art.
When I was presented with this topic I knew I wanted to do down thing a bit challenging. I decided to do a still life of a photograph that I had taken the weekend prior to the project. After studying this picture a bit more carefully I realized that I would need I apply my prior knowledge of shading and the new techniques for proportion we had just learned. This was my rough draft for the project. In doing this rough draft I saw that making the hair look like it was in a braid was going to be harder than I thought. I also noticed the picture was misisn something, a pop of color. This is my final, and I think it turned out well. I noticed that the proportions were well done and the shading really made it come to life. The extra pop of color from the tie dye shirts really made it all come together. Overall, the proportions, shading, and use of colored pencils for color were what made this drawing what it is. |
